How to Edit Portraits in Capture One – Fstoppers

While Lightroom and Photoshop are probably the most used post-processing programs, they are far from the only options. Many professionals prefer Capture One for their work, particularly for the way it renders color and for its tethering capabilities. If you are new to the program, check out this fantastic video tutorial that will show you how to edit a portrait using it.

Coming to you from Eli Infante, this helpful video tutorial will show you how to edit portraits in Capture One. Capture One is the program of choice for a range of photographers, beloved for its tethering capabilities and excellent color rendering, and if you have always used Lightroom and Photoshop by default, it is certainly worth exploring other options just to see if there is something else you prefer. Nonetheless, no matter what program you edit in, the key to a good edit is a light touch. Generally, it is a better idea to err on the side of doing less, as a portrait that is edited too much can make the subject look artificial or can look a bit gaudy overall. A good trick is to step away from your computer for a minute or two when you are done with the edit to allow your eyes the chance to reset, then return and evaluate the image one more time before exporting it. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Infante.
