‘These weren’t usual fashion shoots that are often done in a day. You’d go out, come back to show me a picture, and then go back out to take another one. Then you’d take another two or three, and we’d get rid of the first two, over and over again’ – Phil Bicker, art director
‘These kids would wear clothes in ways other than they were supposed to, buying regular clothes and wearing them oversized and baggy, which became a huge thing later. They presented the clothes like that on their own, like how people make things for themselves on TikTok now’ – Phil Bicker, Art Director
‘Back in London, we spent a lot of time hanging out as friends and doing pictures together, just the two of us. We had a lot of fun, wandering the streets, on the tube, on traffic islands… In parks, shopping malls, and photo booths’ – Cecilia Chancellor, model
‘This is in my kitchen. I’d run out of ideas for this shoot, so I restaged pictures that I’d taken of my partner, Ruth. I basically copied myself’ – Nigel
Spice Girls shoot, New York, ahead of an appearance on Saturday Night Live
‘When I’m making decisions about hair, make-up, etcetera, I want them to disappear so that nothing gets in the way of the picture’ – Nigel
’The stylist had a large trampoline, but when Gigi jumped on it she stayed up in the air for far too long, and I had too much time to take a picture. The trampoline was too professional. We bought a cheaper one, and it made all the difference, her going, “boing, boing, boing”. That’s the first frame by the way’ – Nigel
